This lovely, Asia’s largest and second largest in the world, 273 acre park of lawns and woods, on the western bank of Hoogly, was founded in 1787 by Col. Alexander Kyd of the East India Company. There are more than 30,000 varieties of trees and plants, including the famous banyan tree. This 200-year-old Banyan tree, the world's largest, has a circumference of 330m.
